Welcome to The Good Work Podcast, a place where you can find the insights, how-tos, and inspiration you need to do good work that's also good for you.

I'm Dr. Amy Cabrera Rasmussen.

I'm an educator, scholar, and a writer, and I'm a lifelong student.

This show is for you because you care deeply about making a difference, but you also want that difference-making to be sustainable and good for your well-being.

Maybe you're a student or you're early in your professional life. You want to use your skills and knowledge for something that matters, but you're not sure where to start.

Or maybe you're already doing meaningful work, you've built a career with purpose, and lately, it's been getting harder to navigate, harder to sustain.

You might feel stretched thin, disillusioned, or simply tired, or all of the above.

I get it.

I've spent a lot of my life and career feeling like a square peg in a round hole. But over time, I've realized that not fitting in, it can be leverage. It can be the thing that helps you to ask better questions, see what others miss, bring people together, and it can help you to devise a way forward, even when the circumstances are not ideal.

Each week, I'll share interviews and stories from real people doing good work locally, nationally, and around the world.

Some will be names you'll recognize, many won't be, but all of them will have something useful to teach you. We'll get specific about what their work looks like day-to-day, what motivates them, what got complicated, what they wish they'd known earlier, and what keeps them going when conditions are tough.

You'll also hear from researchers, thinkers, and leaders who are redefining what good work is.

Because the world of work, and good work in particular, they're changing fast. If it feels like the ground is shifting under your feet, you're not imagining it.

I'm building this podcast because I think we need support and community in this moment.

We need language for it, we need examples, and we need practical ways to start or keep doing good work that's also good for us.

So please follow the show on Apple Podcasts, YouTube, Spotify, or wherever you listen so you don't miss a thing.

Let's get to some good work, shall we?
